Dr Johann (Laurie) Blake is a urologist based in Pretoria at Pretoria Urology Hospital. He qualified with a bachelors in Medicine in 2007. He has been a fellow of the College of Urologists in South Africa since 2017. He went on to complete his Master’s Degree in Urology in 2018 at the University of Pretoria. Dr Blake works in the Pelvic Wellness Unit and has a wide range of interests, ranging from Female urology, Endourology to Robotic Surgery.

Dr Viola Morolo also known as Dr Synergy. “I am passionate about synergising health resources for training and service delivery with the ultimate goal of providing our patients, both public and private, world class treatment.” Dr Viola Morolo is a Specialist Urologist at the University of Pretoria. She is based at Steve Biko Academic Hospital leading the Uro-oncology division. Dr Viola Morolo is the founder of the South African Urology Laparoscopy (SAUL) workshop, which was birthed to accelerate the learning curve of laparoscopy surgery by sharing the collective knowledge and skills of masters in Laparoscopy surgery. Dr Dawid Johan Mouton is a urologist based in Pretoria at Pretoria Urology Hospital and Life Wilgers Hospital. He qualified in 2019 from the University of Pretoria and has a wide range of interests, ranging from paediatric to reconstructive urology.
Margrit Nurnberger completed a diploma in General Nursing Science and Midwifery in HF Verwoerd Hospital (Now Steve Biko ).
She completed her Diploma in ICU in the same institution in 1984. Margrit has worked in various Private Hospitals in ICU.
Since 2011 she has been a Unit Manager at the Urology Hospital in the ICU who has a passion for all her patients.

Fasie started his nursing career at the age of 17 after matriculating at the High School Andrew Rabie, Port Elizabeth.
His caring, warm and friendly manner was noted at and early age by his mother, grandparents, teachers. It was therefor no surprize when he announced in matric that “Nursing” what he wants to do.
He qualified as a general nurse in 1980, at the Provincial Hospital and Charley Cribb Nursing College in Port Elizabeth. Worked a registered nurse until June 1983, started education and training in midwifery, qualified (cum laude), in June 1984.
He soon showed management and leadership prowess, and promoted to senior professional nurse in 1985, taking charge of a post coronary, nephrology ward.
In January 1986, registered at the University of Port Elizabeth, (now Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University), for a B Cur I er A degree. Completed in 1989. This degree opened a world in which he felt comfortable and joined the private sector in 1991, as a Unit Manager, St Georges Hospital, Port Elizabeth. A position he held for 5 years.
Nursing Service Manager at the Department of Health until 1989. Took some months off to travelled Europe and find out more about life. This sabbatical brought clarity that the career embarked upon must be taken further on roads unknown.
He took up a position as Nursing Service Manager with Malesela Hospital Group towards the end of 1989, with the purpose to commission the nursing service in Montana Private Hospital in Pretoria (now Netcare), N17 Private Hospital (also now Netcare), started with the input of building plans for Kuilsrevier Private Hospital (Netcare). He was noticed by business leaders in Afrox Healthcare, now Life Healthcare, and found himself as a “Nursing Service Specialist” in the Afrox Head Office,
In 2003, he was identified to represent the Afrox Nursing Function, to participate in a tender in the United Kingdom (UK), to manage patient waiting lists on behalf of the UK Department of Health. The Afrox team successfully won 6 contracts for a 5-year period to deliver surgery, treatment and care for patients that needed orthopaedic, general, ophthalmic, ear nose and throat surgery. Fasie was appointed as Director of Nursing for the new venture between Afrox Healthcare and Care UK – referred to as Care UK, Afrox Healthcare.
He returned to SA, commissioned the Nursing Service at Life Fourways Hospital. Worked as Regional Nursing Manager for Mediclinic for 2 years, took a short time back to the UK, as General Manager of the Northeast London Treatment Centre.
Returned to SA in 2010, appointed as National Nursing Manager. A position he held until 2018.
Took up the position of Group Nursing Manager, Lenmed Health for the last formal part of his career.
He retired formally in January 2023. Retirement is not a part of his current plans.
He is actively working, currently in Pretoria Urology, to facilitate risk and quality improvement.
He is passionate about nursing practice at the bedside, actively promote clinical supervision, theory and practice integration, management and leadership.

Initiated, overseen the development and implementation of a hospital care worker strategy. She established clinical governance by means of an Infection Prevention and Control interest and meeting group, as well as a mortality and morbidity sub-committee.
Integration of Curamed Hospital into Mediclinic. She is the founding member of the Urology Nurses Association of South Africa. She initiated the registration of this body as Non-Governmental Organization in SA.
She remains a passionate nurse and believes in a professional, scientific approach to nursing practice, education and training. She believes in lifelong learning. Wilma has held several senior strategic positions in healthcare over the years, these includes, Executive Nursing, Hospital Manager Nursing Service Manager, Area/Unit Manager, Commanding Officer in the SA Defence Force.

On Sunday 29 October ESAU 2023 will enter an interactive and exciting phase. After ethical lectures, we invite all of you to submit abstracts for presentation. The presentation will be 10 min and then 10 minutes of discussion will follow. Please submit interesting clinical cases, procedural videos or “tips and tricks”. The topics can be Oncology, Functional Urology, Paediatric Urology, Stone disease, Reconstructive Urology or basically any topic of your choice. The venue is supportive of high quality videos. In the legacy of ESAU being committed to clinical practice in South Africa this will be an excellent learning experience for us all.
